Welcome back to the channel and today’s video. I’ve got called to a customers house because they wanted me to fit a hot water outside tap!
They already have a cold water outside tap so I’m going to install one next to it and we are going to tidy the old one up so they both look the same. On the inside is a plant room so we’re gonna be running some copper pipes around the perimeter and connecting back into the hot water system with some isolations in place.
After isolating the hot water and opening a outlet and also closing off the cold water feed to the outside tap I can start by cutting the old one out and drilling a new hole ready for the new hot water outside tap. I like to use these stem pipes which have good mountain screws on them and I’ve sleeved inside the hole to help protect it from cement and bricks as this can lead to corrosion if the copper is touching.
Decided to use press as the whole plant room is done impress but I like to use the best fittings from viega using my Ridgid 251 press tool. To mark the clips around the wall perfectly straight I’m using my laser level from huepar which makes light work of installing clips level. Because I can’t press the fittings close to the wall as they have long radius bands will be installing a 90 and 2 x 45 to get back onto the original pipework.
I’ve installed my trusty butterfly 15 mm isolation valves as this makes it nice and easy to be able to turn the supply on and off from the inside. When connecting onto the hot water pipe I had no play left and right so I had no option but to use a slip coupler these are extremely good when you can’t move pipework out of the way and impress just makes this an absolute dream.
Bending copper pipe means that we have less joints and I show you in the video how to bend perfect using a simple tip while using my Monument pipe benders. Marking the centre of the pipe and 70 mm back also works on normal benders. You just have to line that mark up with the start of the former.
We’ve all the work complete. The customer has now a hot and a cold outside tap to be able to use on whatever they like. If you’re going to use this for bathing animals then you do need to make sure that you fit a mixer valve so that hot water feed is regulated at 38° rather than straight from the hot water tank which could be in excess of 60 to 90° in the worst case.
